Life on Earth Presents Bluey Robinson & Friends

Life on Earth label put on another beautifully intimate show in Covent Garden’s Stereo on July 11th, and it was amazing! Bluey Robinson captivated the audience's attention with some of his original music as-well as a few well-known covers and provided the perfect atmosphere to the evening. This event featured guests including Lola Moxom, Harrison Mayo and Saïna, amongst other unexpected appearances, who all put on incredible sets that got the audience on their feet the whole night. The choice of venue fit the evening perfectly with a relaxed and cosy feel, whilst the music flowed effortlessly from beginning to end.

Bluey Robinson opened the show with a mixture of originals tracks and covers and was joined on stage by the talented Jordan Morris for a sensational rendition of D’Angelos ‘Untitled (How does it feel)’. We then saw Harrison Mayo take to the stage and perform his original song ‘La La La’, which had the audience joining in with the hook and singing along. Lola Moxom then showed the audience her incredible vocal range with some original pieces before Saïna took to the mic and dazzled the crowd with her soft jazzy tones on her own track ‘Wrong Love’. In between acts, Bluey Robinson effortlessly kept the audience entertained with some performances, including a cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’, a few games of word association and ended the night on his original song ‘Showgirl’, which the crowd went wild for.

Life on Earth label provide a consistent pool of new artists who put on spectacular performances and fit the evenings perfectly. Their events have previously featured many up-coming artists including J Warner, Jordan Thomas, Raheem Bakare, Amani Lia, Broken Pen, Ally Adams and Mark Asari.

Life on Earth Label helps to promote emerging and upcoming artists through their events, giving them a platform to get their time in the spotlight whilst having the chance to network with other artists. These intimate shows that Life on Earth have been putting on, have been innovative and refreshing to the music scene, giving it a fresh burst of life. Whilst people attend for the music, it is the atmosphere and feeling of community that makes it truly memorable. The audience have a chance to participate in the show and interact with the artists in a way that you do not typically get at other shows like these. From getting up on stage for song association games, to the artists enjoying the show with the rest of the crowd, it really is different. Talking to Bluey Robinson in an interview, we discussed the party game element of the evening and whether this is a regular part of the show, which he confirmed and spoke about his view on it saying, ‘‘I think it's great to get the audience up on stage as well. Some people crumble under the pressure, and they do really badly but some people absolutely shine and it's like they've been waiting, they've been ready. They had the songs primed. It's cool.’’.

During the interview, we also spoke about what the future for the Life on Earth events could look like, in addition to carrying on with the events at Stereo, Bluey Robinson told ‘‘We also want to do sessions for YouTube, filming live sessions with different artists. You know like ‘Colors’, ‘SBTV’, that sort of thing’’. The label has also been doing small interview segments, asking people what the meaning of life is, gathering the publics answers. They have recently started posting these public responses on Instagram, again, showing a more personal and out-of-the-box take on how the label are working with the public. Life on Earth are moving forward in inventive ways and aiming to introduce more budding singers, musicians and writers to the London music scene.
